Image-Related Issues are Hurting Your SEO

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015

Marketers are facing many SEO-related issues because of images. These issues could be negatively impacting your site’s search visibility. Raven Tools did a recent study on this issue that analyzed more than 4 billion on-page SEO issues over 200 million page crawls between February and June 2015.

The main issues are with images that are missing title attributes and images that are missing ALT attributes. These are simple fixes that could have a huge impact on your website’s SEO. “Google image search receives over 1 billion page views every single day. It’s safe to say, image search is part of many searchers’ daily Internet activity. The higher your images rank in image search, the more likely people will visit your pages through image search,” the authors of the study wrote. “Despite the opportunity, image optimization is still an untapped resource for many websites today.”

Other issues that Raven Tools found was that most SEO issues are also related to links with no anchor text,  meta descriptions that are missing or the wrong length and pages with duplicate content.

It is important to have monthly SEO audits on your website. You need to be able to see if there are some short comings with your site that can be fixed. Most of the time, issues around search viability can easily be fixed.
