Adobe’s Flash software is now blocked by default on all versions of the Firefox web browser. Why has this happened? Mozilla, developer of Firefox, has recently found some bugs in Flash that were allowing cyber-thieves to do malicious activity.
On its support pages, Mozilla said the block would remain until “Adobe releases an updated version to address known critical security issues”.
Attackers were known to use vulnerabilities in Flash to install malicious software on computers and steal data, it added.
According to w3schools.com 21.5% of internet browses are done on Firefox. This is big news! If you website is supported by Flash, it will have some issues. This could greatly impact your website.
You can still have Flash on your website, but users may opt to not use it. So you site may not function properly. Flash, and other Adobe products, regularly feature among the top 10 applications favoured by criminals keen to compromise computers.
