Wow. What a great experience our team had at Leadercast 2015 at the Coast Hotel here in Kamloops. The Kamloops Chamber of Commerce decided to be a host of this amazing event a few months ago. Once we heard about it, we knew we needed to attend. We were blown away by the speakers and the amount of people who attended the local viewing of the live stream from Atlanta.
There were so many stories of bravery and leadership. #thebraveones was the theme for this year and it brought together many influential people such as: Aja Brown, Ed Catmull, CMDR Rorke Denver, Rudy Giuliani, Seth Godin, Peyton Manning, Bill McDermott, Bill Rancic, Andy Stanley, Malala Yousafzani and Giuliana Rancic. Each and every single one of them told the audience what their idea of bravery and leadership was.
A unique element of the event was the mini documentaries they played between the speakers. These short films showcased different people from around the world and how they are one of #thebraveones. These everyday people are making positive changes in our world.
You can watch some more of these documentaries at: https://www.youtube.com/user/leadercast/videos
There were quite a few memorable moments from the day. Here are a few that really stuck with us:
Choose to live and not exist – Aja Brown
Bold leadership is clarity around and unreasonable commitment to what should be – Andy Stanley
Life is too short. Find your harmonic gate – Rorke Denver
It is important to take a stand and speak up for what you believe in. Be the good you want to see in the world. We all live on it. We are all connected as we are human beings. Anything that breaks your heart should drive you to take action. No matter how big or small the task is; fight for it. Whether it be setting up composting in your own home, or taking steps to end hunger in your community, or taking action to diminish child labour across the world. If you apply yourself and your cause is just, others will follow you.
Don’t wait for someone else to start the change; be the change you want to see!
We are so happy that we were given the opportunity to attend Leadercast 2015. What a great way to network within our community and to meet with fellow leaders. Now let’s take action and make positive changes in the world!
