We had another great success partnering with Google to present how AdWords can help grow your business! This week we hosted our second #partnersconnect event also in partnership with the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce. We had a room full of delegates from around the community that joined us for an hour of learning and sharing ideas.
There were a few topics our attendees found informative and interesting. Discussion around Google My Business, Ad Relevance and Reviews occurred during and after the presentation.
Google AdWords allows you to advertise when you need it most. This is always changing and you can ensure your ads are staying relevant to internet users. Google has a feature that allows you to change which ads are shown based on the season or time of year. For example if you are an ice cream shop that also does cappuccinos. It’s a best practice to advertise online that you sell ice cream in the summer but not in the winter. But you can change your ads to advertise that you offer delicious cappuccinos during the colder months or even days. Say a storm comes into town, you can even have certain ads run during bad weather.
There was emphasis placed by Google on the importance of claiming your business with Google My Business. Google My Business connects you directly with customers, whether they’re looking for you on Search, Maps or Google+. It is here that you get to share your personal story of how you started your business, give customers the right info and build lasting relationships. Google My Business gives you power to control your image online and also further improve your customer service. It is encouraged that you get people to review your business to give you feedback and potential customers an idea of what your business is like.
Ad extensions is another feature Google covered during the seminar. For those who don’t know what ad extensions are and what role they play, let us explain. Ad extensions enhance ads by providing built in links within the ad allowing users to click them resulting in a specific action. For example, ad extensions can be in the form of a calling option, offer, and/or location to name a few. Each extension takes users to the relevant web page or in the case of calling, it automatically dials the listed number; providing you are using a cell phone. These additional pieces of information built in to an ad gives customers more reason to click. Google stated that 11 ad extensions can give you a 30% click-through rate increase. There is no additional cost to having built in extensions you only get charged for the ad clicks.
We touched on this in our previous blog about 2015 growing marketing trends, but it’s great to see Google confirming our thoughts and opinions. Google stated that 72% of people who use mobile devices to search for business end up calling that business resulting in conversions. Mobile will be bigger than desktop! So what makes this so important is ensuring that your website is mobile friendly. Web designers are now more than ever starting to design websites for mobiles versus desktops. Optimizing your website for mobile devices is critical for creating a positive user experience, ensuring that the buying process is uninterrupted increases conversions. Furthermore, implementing mobile ads into your marketing strategy via search engines and within apps can help companies grow their mobile ad sales.
