Twitter Lightening Project
You may heard a lot of buzz around Twitter’s new Moments (formerly code-named Project Lightening). We wanted to give you our thoughts on this change for the social media platform.
What brought about Lightening? Well Jack Dorsey did. He is the newly appointed CEO of Twitter. He was brought on to help keep the company competitive in the industry and relevant to users and the online community.
There have been some major changes since Jack came onto the scene:
Direct messages underwent various changes over the past few months, such as the removal of 140-character l15imit and the addition of bigger-sized custom emoji to make them more engaging and fun for users. Moreover, the company recently expanded the buy button on tweets to more closely integrate e-commerce on its platform. Most recently, it also made possible for users to make political donations through tweets.
The Moments feature provides the best of what’s happening on Twitter in real-time (around events, TV shows, and news), with a click of a button. It is edited by human curators and allows users to follow events without the need to follow individual accounts. We believe this recent product change is exciting, since it adds to the value proposition of Twitter.
What do you think of these changes? We know that we will keep an eye on Twitter’s features and see if they add value to our account with them.
