A few posts ago we wrote a blog about how Twitter may be losing it’s edge in the game of social media. Where that may or may not be true, no one really knows. After all, markets are in constant flux and change all of the time.
We wanted to give credit to Twitter where credit is due because it really is a great social network, and that’s evident in the fact that it’s still one of the top 5 social media networks on Earth right now. According to Global Web Index, 21% of internet users actively use Twitter each month. While that’s far below Facebook (47% actively use it), Twitter still has a plethora of content available and is one of the main social networks for connecting with celebrities or companies, finding out about daily world affairs, and give-and-take content for followers.
If you’ve ever used Twitter, you know that it definitely takes some getting used to. From the very first time you log on to when you start to add to your list of follows. You feel overwhelmed by the massive amounts of content on the first page, and you haven’t even begun to scratch the surface.
In many instances, news has been found to be reported on Twitter first before it’s even broadcasted on professional news networks (source: Business Insider).
We’ll end this post with this thought: Twitter has the most wonderful potential to be an exchange of beautiful ideas. The greatest thing about Twitter is that it is the ultimate leveler. On Twitter, it doesn’t matter if you’re a billionaire or a high school student.
