Top 4 Unique Ways to Get Customer Testimonials

Wednesday, April 29th, 2015

It is well known that word-of-mouth truly is the best form of marketing. People trust what people in their lives have to say about a brand or company. Testimonials hold high regard when someone is considering on using a product or service. This is why having client feedback or testimonials can have a major impact on your brand and it’s image.

Many brands have a hard time collecting this valuable insight; they may feel awkward or pushy asking. This is something you can get over with some creative tactics.

  1. Surveys. Here you can make sure you are providing good customer service by asking various thought prompting questions. If a customer has a positive experience, you may be inclined to share it on your website, blog and/or social media networks.
  2. Social Media. Reviews pages and comment boxes are a great way for people to talk to you about your brand. Social Media provides an environment where people can give their testimonial on their own time and don’t feel any pressure. With that said, you may want to send a little nudge to them. Remind them to give their thoughts if they choose to do so. Twitter, Facebook and Google+ are great places for this to occur. It may even happen naturally without you have to push it along.
  3. Encourage Ideas. When it comes to customer service you can only know how the customer feels about your service by directly asking them. You may not want to give them a call or talk to them in person as it may scare them away. One perfect example of how to get customer to open up is with some kind of forum. A perfect example of this is http://mystarbucksidea.force.com/. This site is dedicated to people anywhere in the world who have an idea they think Starbucks should implement. Starbucks actually listens to what people are saying and even implements some of these ideas.
  4. Make it beneficial. Maybe your customer(s) would be more inclined to give a video testimonial. Say you are in business-to-business customer service. Your testimonial giver would talk about the work you did for them as a company. So not only are you getting a great review, they are also promoting their own business or brand. It is a win-win situation. See our ROI Media Works – YouTube channel for examples of this in action.

We know it can be tough getting testimonials and feedback from clients. But don’t give up! These are essential pieces of your marketing strategy that you should be updating regularly.
