Who Inspires Us ?|Part 2

Tuesday, May 26th, 2015

As promised, this is part 2 of our 4 part series on who inspires us. Up next is Ashley. She is kind of all over the map when it comes to the people who inspire her. It isn’t necessarily people in her industry that giver her motivation and drive.

Dana Lynn Bailey is someone who inspires Ashley. ‘DLB’, as she is popularly known in the fitness world, as become a international icon. She has won various prestigious events in body building, but this isn’t why Ashley has grown attached to this woman.

Dana works hard in everything she does. She is a wife, a friend, an athlete and a role model. She doesn’t let what other people say bring her down and she does what makes her happy. There is a lot to learn from this. Her and her husband Rob have built a life they can be proud of. They are involved in everything from clothing, to supplements, cars, dog rescue organizations, car racing and everything in between.

It is not what they do, but how they do it that inspires Ashley. We only get one life, so don’t waste it doing things you don’t want to do. #lovetheprocess #flagnorfail #balance

Another person who has inspired Ashley is author and human rights activist Kerry Pither. She was first introduced to this amazing woman back in journalism school. As part of Ashley’s curriculum for a international politics class, she had to read Dark Days.

Dark Days is the story of Canadian national security investigations gone terribly wrong, told through the experiences of four of its targets: Ahmad El Maati, Abdullah Almalki, Maher Arar and Muayyed Nureddin.- http://kerrypither.com/

This book moved her so much that for another class, Ashley decided she needed to write about Kerry and her novel. She luckily got to have a one-on-one phone interview with Kerry and has never forgotten this experience. Kerry inspires Ashley because she never gave up on doing the right thing. There was a lot of adversity around her, but she stayed to true to her beliefs and fought for the lives of the men that were taken.

Kerry also inspires Ashley in that she wrote a novel on a controversial topic. The novel was well structured and written. It is the kind of book you can’t put down. The even more amazing thing is that Kerry pledged any profits from sales of the book to Amnesty International Canada. What a exceptional human being.
